The Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Abdulfatai Buhari and the Chairman of Itesiwaju Local Government Area, Hon. Niyi Adeagbo, on Friday collaborated in an empowement exercise at the premises of Itesiwaju LG Secretariat in Otu.
At the event, over 200 constituents received sewing machines, grinding machines, motorbikes, mobile phones, deep freezers, generators, knapsack sprayers and bags of salt for cattle feeds. Selected widows across the council area were also given cash donations.
In his speech, Hon. Niyi Adeagbo explained that the items given were based on the identified need gaps to boost the beneficiaries’ economic productivity as well as creation of wealth.
The council boss pleaded with those who did not benefit to exercise patience and wait for subsequent events, saying “those who are at this time not opportuned to partake in this programme would benefit in our subsequent ones. Let me also use this opportunity to let the masses know that we have other masses-oriented programmes still lined up”.
Adeagbo showered praises on Governor Abiola Ajimobi for giving him the opportunity to serve his people at the grassroots and promised to always be at his best. He also lauded Senator Buhari for his qualitative representation of the district, amazing constituency projects, empowerment initiatives and support for Itesiwaju local administration.
Speaking, Senator Buhari said the Give-Back Programme is in fulfilment of his campaign promises to the people of his Senatorial District. He commended Hon. Adeagbo for the collaborative concept.
The chief host of the event and chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Itesiwaju LG, Alhaji Dhikrullah Osuolale, in his address, stated that the duo of Buhari and Adeagbo, have not disappointed the people. He added that the joint event was unprecedented in Nigeria.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Kamorudeen Adekoje expressed his happiness to Hon. Adeagbo-led local government administration as well as Senator Buhari, hailing them for ensuring that people benefitted irrespective of political affiliations.
Another beneficiary, Mrs Opoola Bose also appreciated the kind gesture. In her words, “My appreciation goes to the Executive Chairman of Itesiwaju LG, Hon. Niyi Adeagbo and our Senator in Oyo North, Dr. Buhari for their collaborative give back concept in which some of us are beneficiaries. May God continue to bless them”.
Among those present were Executive Chairmen of LGAs, former Special Assistant to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, elders and leaders of APC Itesiwaju LG and leaders of professional groups.
