A group of youth of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogbomoso has cautioned former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala against threatening the people of the town ahead of the elections.
The youth, under the aegis of APC Youth Frontier, also urged voters not to mind the threats but simply go out to exercise their voting rights.
In a statement signed by the cordinator Adewale John, the group maintained that it was “careless” and “unexpected of an elder statesman”, that Akala insulted Ogbomoso people during a radio interview on Thursday night because they dis not support his son, Olamiju Alao-Akala, who was recently removed as Chairman Ogbomoso North Local Government Area.
The group said the former governor has become an agent of distraction instead of a political godfather and mentor.”
“We appreciate his function and achievements when he was opportuned to holdsway as Governor of Oyo state, but we want him to please stop misleading people with faint hope of ruling Oyo state again, its a dream that can no longer materialize,” it said, adding: “We believe that our party’s candidates are credible and they are people whose integrity can be vouched for”
While urging party members to continue to mobilize for their candidates, the group expressed optimism that the party will come out victorious in the coming election in order to consolidate on his achievements in Ogbomoso, Oyo State and the country at large.
