The Lagos State Government has made changes to the state’s school calender following the rescheduling of the general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule disclosed on Saturday that all public and private schools are now to resume on Monday February 18, 2019. Schools in the state had gone on break on Friday, February 15 with plans to see out the February 16 election and resume on Tuesday, February 19 as contained in the earlier calendar.
According to Adebule, all schools in the state are expected to close on Friday February 22 and resume on Monday 25. The rescheduled date for the presidential and National Assembly election is Saturday, February 23.
She said there would be another break on Friday March 8, 2019 and schools are expected to resume from that break on Monday March 11, 2019. The rescheduled date for governorship and State House of Assembly election is Saturday, March 9.
The Deputy Governor advised all public and private schools, school leaders and school associations to adhere strictly to the new School Calendar saying that the essence of the review is to ensure that academic development of pupils and students of the state are not compromised by the alteration of the election time table.
