BringBackOurGirls campaign co-convener, Oby Ezekwesili, has thrown her weight behind the #IStandWithNigeria protest being planned by music star, 2Face.
The police have vowed to stop the protest from going on, threanining to arrest 2Face and others who dare go on with the protest on February 6.
The presidency has also described the planned protest as being the brainchild of those who were still bitter that former President Goodluck Jonathan lost the 2015 election to President Muhammadu Buhari.
But Ezekwesili took to Twitter this morning to slam the government for being intolerant to opposition despite once being in opposition.
She tweeted: “The greatest TRAGEDY of our current cycle of Democracy is that a Govt which was once in Opposition is now INTOLERANT of citizens’ agitation.
“Citizens can decide to agitate on ANYTHING as long as it is done within their Constitutional RIGHT. No Govt has a RIGHT to REPRESS citizens.
“If the FG & @PoliceNG have a shred of honor ®ard for our Constitution, they must RECANT their stance against #IStandWithNigeria protest.
“My free counsel to Pres @MBuhari & acting Pres @ProfOsinbajo is YOU CANNOT WIN AGAINST YOUR AGITATED CITIZENS. Call @PoliceNG to order NOW.
“We thought that FG& @PoliceNG learnt something from their failure to STIFLE our @BBOG_Nigeria Citizens’ RIGHT TO PROTEST. #IStandWithNigeria
“Let the FG & @PoliceNG desist from ESCALATING TENSION in an already brittle public space. STOP threatening the #IStandWithNigeria Citizens”.
