Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has called on Osun State government to relinquish ownership of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso since it could not afford to “properly fund the university”.
According to Premium Times, Falana also asked the Oyo State government to abolish its new Technical University and deploy the resources to LAUTECH.
On what the two states should jointly do for the institution’s immediate reopening, the lawyer said they should commit parts of the newly disbursed Paris club refunds to paying striking workers and reopening te school.
Falana made the call on Friday at the memorial symposium held in honour of Funmi Adewunmi a former lecturer at the Osun State University, Ikire campus, Osun state.
The Senate had on July 12 called on the Nigerian government to take over the university which had remained shit for months.
