The Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Area of Oyo State Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, has described the consensus arrangement of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) that produced the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, as the new chairman of the forum on Wednesday as historic and confirmation of unity in diversity among the governors.
The council boss who is son of former Oyo State governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, made this assertion in a congratulatory message to the new Chairman of the forum.
“It is a great development that for the first time in 20years of the NGF’s existence, a true nationalist from the southwestern part of Nigeria, was unanimously chosen as its chairman,” he said.
Congratulating Fayemi “on his additionl role in the governance of Nigeria, Alao-Akala said the governors made a smart and right decision of the Nigeria governors.
According to him, “your Excellency’s victory is a clear demonstration of the trust and confidence your colleagues have in your ability to lead the forum with a view to forming partnerships with the relevant authorities and individuals towards the progress of our country”.
He urged Nigerian politicians, especially governors-elect, to emulate “the governors’ display of high level of political maturity”. He urged the incoming governors to support and cooperate with Fayemi “towards sustaining the ideals which gave birth to the NGF for it to remain as the baston of good governance and leadership in the country.”
Hon. Alao-Akala also wished the new vice-chairman of the forum and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal a crisis-free and successful tenure.
