Reports have it that gunmen on Friday abducted five Catholic Nuns of the Order of the Missionary of Martha and Mary in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Nuns are under the Issele-Uku Diocese of the Catholic Church.
The hoodlums were said to have intercepted the vehicle in which the nuns were riding as they returned from a burial ceremony.
The burial was said to have taken place in the South East, but the Reverend Sisters were abducted around the railway line in Agbor area of Delta State.
Two of the nuns were said to have been injured as the gunmen fired at their vehicle in order to bring it to a forceful stop.
The hoodlums were yet to make any demand as at press time.
The Commissioner, Delta State Police Command, Muhammad Mustafa, has confirmed the incident.
Mustafa said the identity of the victims were yet to be ascertained, adding that they were more than five as at the time of the attack by the hoodlums who shot sporadically into the air.
He said operatives of the Command were on the trail of the kidnappers.
