Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) members from Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North local government areas on Thursday, protested against the nomination of Seun Fakorede as Commissioner.
Fakorede, 27, whose name was sent to the House of Assembly by Governor Seyi Makinde last week is expected to be named Commissioner of Youth and Sports in the state.
The protesters on Thursday morning stormed the entrance of the Oyo State House of Assembly where Fakorede and two others are undergoing screening.
The protesters, most of whom were elderly people, accused Fakorede of working against the PDP in the last governorship election. They claim he was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Some of the captions on the placards read, ‘GSM, don’t allow APC to destabilise your government’; ‘GSM, those who voted against you can never be your friend’ and ‘GSM, Ibarapa Central/North PDP reject APC nominee, Seun Fakorede.’
Another group of young people also staged a counter protest, stressing that young people were behind Fakorede.
