Oyo State Governor-elect, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday promised vowed to unleash the full weight of the law against any member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) or any other group or association, who are planning to disrupt the peace of the state before, during or after the May 29 swearing -in ceremony.
Makinde stated this in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Prince Dotun Oyelade.
The governor-elect was reacting to insinuation in some quarters that there are plans to cause trouble as from Wednesday by a faction of the NURTW over leadership positions in the union.
Makinde stressed that he has no favoured group and no one is above the law, adding that he has discussed the issue with the Commissioner of Police to clamp down heavily on anybody that want to disturb the peace in the state.
He enjoined people of the state to go about their lawful duties as the new administration is determined to protect everybody without fear or favour.
“We will make life uncomfortable for those who profit from violence, and ensure that all the citizens operate their normal lives without intimidation or fear,” Makinde said.
