A member of the House of Representatives representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Hon. Sunday Adeyemi Adepoju, is currently facing a N19.5million lawsuit at the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan.
The suit was filed by an Ibadan-based legal practitioner, Barrister Bolaji Agoro, who claims Adepoju owes him N19.5 million being his professional fees for legal services he rendered as far back as 2015.
According to thenigerialawyer.com, the suit was filed on November 27, 2018, with the claimant also praying the court to award 10 per cent interest on the judgment debt until final liquidation by the defendant.
He said the legal services rendered to Hon. Adepoju, for which he had not paid, were Suit No. EPT/IB/NA/HR/2015 wherein judgment was delivered on August 10, 2015 and Appeal No. CA/EPT/IB/8/2015 wherein judgment was delivered on October 8, 2015 respectively.
The lawyer contended that Hon Adepoju who is seeking to return to the House of Representatives for the third time under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been avoiding him and has refused to pay his fees after series of demand notices as well as bill of charges duly served on him.
The case was adjourned till March 3, 2019.
