Multiple bomb blasts rocked Maiduguri, Borno State early Saturday.
Reports from the city said residents who woke up expecting to go cast their votes later in the morning, heard up to 11 blasts as early as 6am.
It is not certain from which direction they occurred, but agitated residents said it could be another attack by Boko Haram.
Last night there were unconfirmed reports that Boko Haram suicide bombers attacked Zabarmari an outskirts area of Jere, the twin capital township of Maiduguri.
Meanwhile, there were also reports of sporadic shootings in Gaidam, 180km away from Damaturu, Yobe State. It was gathered that insurgents invaded the birder community at about 3am.
