Popular Nigerian columinist and professor based in Canada, Pius Adesanmi has died in a plane crash. He was reported to be on the Ethiopian Airlines plane that crashed in the early hours of Sunday.
Newspeakonline had reported earlier that an Ethiopian Airlines flight between Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, crashed, killing 157 persons onboard.
In a statement, the airline said 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, eight Americans and seven British nationals were among the passengers.
It was believed that the late professor was flown with a Canadian passport.
Adesanmi is a native of Isanlu, in Yagba East Local Government area of Kogi State. Until his death, Adesanmi was a Professor of English at Carleton University.
