Nomination for the annual Gateway Business Awards (GBAwards) has been announced with the introduction of new categories, expected to boost the event’s profile.
Some of the new categories, according to the Awards Planning Committee, Prince Adebowale Aderotoye, include; Business Man of the Year, Family Business of the Year, Best Informal Eating Experience, Best Cultural Event, Tourism and Hospitality Hero awards.
Aderotoye said the new categories are being introduced to mark the tenth anniversary of the award and to further rejuvenate the high profile award.
He stated that one of the highlights of this year’s award, scheduled to hold in October, would be the presence of Ogun State governor, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, who is expected to play a major role at the event.
Reading the release of the nomination of some of the corporate organisations already shortlisted for the award, Aderotoye said that many indigenous corporate firms are already catching the attention of the award’s nomination committee.
He disclosed that corporate organisations such as Fatgbem Group, Lasaco, Adron and Lafarge have signified their intention to slug it out in the various categories of the award.
The chairman of the planning committee stated further that more than 25 industry leaders will take part in the second round of the nomination for final selection in September. He added that the tenth annual prestigious award will hold in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
“We decided to add some new categories to the Award to make the 10th edition more encompassing. It is meant to truly reposition the Award and recognize the concept of excellence in leadership and achievement.
“This is to specifically create a platform which aims to promote strategic nexus and interface between the government and public institutions, individuals, private organizations as well as the local communities towards achieving a sustainable economic development,” Aderotoye said.
