Apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Thursday urged Igbos living in Lagos to cast their vote for the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and all APC candidates in the March 9 Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
The group stated this in a press statement made available to journalists and signed by the Secretary-General, Dim Uche Okwukwu.
The group described Yoruba and Igbo as brothers who have a cordial relationship and have a historic blood bound relationship.
According to the group, “the Igbos need not be told where their future will be better protected inspite of attempts at mounting false propaganda to distort immutable facts and figures. As the March 9 election approaches, we urge the Igbo in Lagos to put their thumbprints where their business and heritage can thrive.
“The government at the center will be APC. There is overwhelming evidence, based on precedence and objective realities, that the APC is better strategically placed to win Lagos gubernatorial election. A vote for APC in Lagos will further open up opportunities for the Igbo at the local and federal levels,” the group added.
The group commended APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tunubu for his achievements and hard work as the pioneer of modern Lagos.
“Asiwaju has brought dramatic changes to the South West politics. Many Igbo hold Tinubu in high esteem, his legacies in Lagos and South West are glaring. All you need to do is to compare Lagos with other states of the federation. His personal fortunes he has used to enrich mass communications, the IT and media industry in Nigeria which broaden democratic space and debate, not to talk of the tremendous impact of promoting federalism and brotherhood across the country,” the statement read.
The group also condemned the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Lagos for “fanning the embers of disunity and orchestrating a carnage for political ends.”
Ohanaeze Ndigbo urged politicians to abide by the principle of the greatest good of the greatest number and not to seek to walk to victory on the blood of innocent people.
The group urged Igbos not to be left out of the progressive train in Lagos because Ndigbo are properly accommodated by successive APC administration in the state.
