The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Osun State, Soji Adagunodo, on Thursday said the party would appeal the verdict of the Court of Appeal which upheld the election of Gboyega Oyetola as governor of the state.
The Appeal Court on Thursday ruled that the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal proceedings was null and void due to the absence of Justice Peter Obiorah at the Tribunal sitting on February 6.
The PUNCH quoted Adagunodo as saying that the appellate court relied on a technical matter presented by the petitioner.
“Technicality was what Wole Olanipekun laid before the court. There was no argument about the decision of the tribunal that gave us victory. We will upturn the judgement at the Supreme Court,” he said.
“It is democracy at play. We will study the Appeal Court judgement appropriately and challenge it at the Supreme Court,” he added.
