The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, on Saturday openly campaigned for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate in Oyo State, Mr Adebayo Adelabu.
He openly campaigned while wrapping up his goodwill message at the Abiola Ajimobi Roundtable which held at the Kola Daisi Civic Centre, Ibadan. The theme of the roundtable is ‘The Imperative of Building Institutions for Lasting Legacies.’
After commending Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for supporting Ajimobi to become governor in 2011 and 2015, the monarch described Ajimobi as a brilliant, cerebral, courageous and loyal leader who has turned the fortunes of Oyo State around. He then emphasized that having a good successor to consolidate on his good works is key to sustaining his legacies.
Consequently, Oba Adeyemi asked the audience: “Ladies and gentlemen, do you want the good work this man did to continue?”
The guests chorused: “Yes.”
Alaafin said: “Then, vote for APC.”
His campaign attracted a thunderous applause.
At the programme were former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon; Tinubu; the immediate last Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola; Chief Bisi Akande; Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, among others.
