The vice chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Abass Bello Bayewuwon, who was purportedly suspended on Tuesday by four councillors loyal to the suspended chairman of the council, Olamiju Alao-Akala, has been sworn in as the chairman of the local government.
He was sworn in on Wednesday at the office of the state commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Bimbo Kolade, at the government secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
The swearing in ceremony was attended by government officials and All progressives Congress (APC) chieftains in the state.
Meanwhile, heavy security presence has been reported at the headquarters of the Local Government in Kinnira, Ogbomoso.
According to National Insight news, “about five patrol vehicles were placed at strategic locations around the council secretariat while stern looking uniformed men with arms were sighted at the premises.”
The suspended chairman had earlier declared that he remains chairman, stating that his suspension was illegal.
