A group within the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Oyo State, Oyo APC Reformers, has slammed the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Dr. Olatunde Azeez and other party executive in the state for threatening to punish groups within the party.
The party had in a statement issued after its expanded State Executive Council(SEC) meeting said that any member setting up different groups within the party would be punished, no matter how highly placed.
But reacting to the statement which was signed by Olatunde, Oyo APC reformers in a statement signed by Honourable Jide Adewale and Engineer Dipo Fawole, the Chairman and the Publicity Secretary respectively stated that the party exco spoke out of frustration owing to the “volume of unending rejections facing Olatunde and his paymaster and the imminent dissolution of all APC party executive positions in the state.”
The group wondered why the thought of sanctions did not come when “his paymaster was promoting selfish agenda under the disguise of SENACO, Integrity Parliament and the constitutionally unrecognized elder’s council.”
The group however commended the leadership of APC in Lagos State especially Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for appointing Dr Muyiwa Gbadegeshin as the Director General, Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA). The group said Gbadegesin’s appointment indicated that the US trained neuro-surgeon turned politician is a cerebral technocrat whose reservoir of knowledge, humility and expertise will be a priceless asset to lagosians in effective and productive utilization of waste.
The group also thanked the Senate under the leadership of Senator Ahmed Lawan for delaying their annual vacation in order to screen the ministerial nominees.
It appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to assign one of the “top ministries to the Oyo State ministerial nominee in order to maximize his capacity and the fact that a lot of national and state party responsibilities will be saddled on him towards the rebuilding and reorganization of the party in Oyo State.”
