Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Friday, sent “a lovely message” to President Muhammadu Buhari. And the carrier of that message was Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Osinbajo and Fayose met at the 4th convocation ceremony of the Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
While delivering his speech, Fayose told Osinbajo that he had “lovely message” for the President. He said he would be grateful if the VP conveyed the message irrespective of political affiliation.
He said: “My Vice President, I have a lovely message for Mr President. And it is very important to Ekiti people and the ABUAD community. Please tell Mr. President, Ekiti State deserves an airport. The level of development you have seen here today, confirms that. This state needs an airport”.
The audience cheered at Fayose’s request and Osinbajo was seen smiling.
Fayose continued: “Please, we want the government at the centre to partner with Ekiti state to give the people an airport. Please, tell Mr. President that we would be grateful if it is included in next year’s budget”.
Osinbajo replied during his own speech, saying: “I agree with His Excellency, the governor. It is true, the state deserves an airport. I will convey your message privided you give me something I’ve been asking for”.
He said he had discussed “that thing” privately with Governor Fayose and hopes that the governor would also grant his request.
Present at the convocation were dignitaries which included: Minister of Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi; Founder of ABUAD, Aare Afe Babalola; Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III; the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Frederick Obateru Akinruntan, and a host of traditional rulers and academic personalities.
