The Oyo State Government has said it will continue to partner with the Community Chest Council(CCC) in the state to achieve the core deliverables of the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) for the less privileged and people living with disabilities in line with manifesto of Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Faosat Sanni, stated this at the 2019 International Volunteers Day celebration and inauguration of new executives of the CCC held at Western Hall of the Oyo State House of Assembly complex in Ibadan.
The Community Chest Council is an umbrella body of volunteers and Non Governmental Organisations(NGOs) who are energizing and driving a strong social welfare agenda for people and communities in Oyo State.
Sanni said government recognises the roles of all the organisations in alleviating the sufferings of the people in various communities.
Her words: “Every individual should embrace the concept of volunteerism because it is the way to reach out to all the communities.
“Individuals and organisations should continue to support and partner CCC to bring the desired changes to the peopls and communities.”
The Commissioner admonished the new officials of the council to see their election as a call to render more selfless services to the people and the state.
Speaking on the theme tagged “Volunteer for an Inclusive Future,” the guest speaker, Mrs Grace Alexander-Abimbola, said volunteers should add value to the lives of people they come across because the future is accessible.
