Ace comedian, Bright Okpocha a.k.a Basketmouth and his crew are celebrating six years of popular TV sitcom, My Flatmates, on air with the 565th episode today.
In a post on Facebook, the comedian said the show’s idea was conceived 15 years ago by him and actor/producer, Kayode Peters.
According to him, they could not afford to pay for a location, set or even a proper camera, but still managed to pull it off.
He said: “My little flat at Iponri Estate became the set, KP pulled in all the favors so we got the cameras for close to nothing.
“Not long after, the dream came to life, the sitcom started airing on STV. It ran for 4 years until we finally pulled the plug.
“9yrs later in 2017, with Africa Magic by our side, we woke her up. Gave her a new look, vibe and direction.”
My Flatmates is a situational comedy documenting the lives of four friends who share an apartment. All sorts of chaotic and hilarious things happen as they go about their daily escapades in pursuit of a better life for themselves.
According to Basketmouth, the journey started with four of them: Basketmouth; producer cum actor, Kayode Peters; OAP cum comedian, Steve Onu a.k.a Yaw and actor cum MC, Okechukwu Chima.
Today, it has added great artistes like Okey Bakassi, Buchi the comedian, Emmanuel Ikubese, Scarlet Sotade, Wofai, Rekiya Yusuf and a host of others.
