There was palpable tension at the national headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) on Wednesday, as security operatives prevented Sen. Dino Melaye and journalists from gaining access to submit what he described as “additional petition.”
The camera of a Journalist was seized but later released when Dino intervened.
After some minutes, he had his way and ushered himself, supporters and journalists into INEC headquarters.
Dino insisted that he would not leave the commission’s office until a National Commissioner receives the petition from him.
The embattled senator is contesting the result of the November 16 senatorial rerun election in Kogi West, which he claimed was marred by violence and electoral malpractices.
