The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1, and his High Chiefs who were promoted Obas by Governor Abiola Ajimobi last year, are finally had their Olubadan-in-Council meeting today, ending 12 months of estrangement.
The meeting of the Olubadan-in-Council held today at the Popoyemoja palace of the Olubadan.
Newspeakonline gathered that the new obas arrived the palace at about 12noon but the Olubadan came out to meet them two hours later. Even when he finally showed up, he insisted on not starting the meeting without the Osi Olubadan, Sen. Rashidi Ladoja, the Osi Olubadan and the Iyalode of Ibadan land, Chief Mrs Aminat Abiodun, who were absent at the meeting.
Our source however, said Ladoja had already intimated the Olubadan that he would unavoidably be absent.
The meeting, which used to hold twice a month, had not held since last year since the Olubadan kicked against the Chieftaincy Declaration review that led to the coronation of the new obas.
The path to peace was started on Sunday when the Otun Olubadan, Oba Balogun held what was described as a family meeting with the Olubadan and Ladoja.
August 27, last year, at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Governor Ajimobi conferred Obaship on the High Chiefs led by Oba Balogun (excluding Ladoja who rejected the title) and some of the Baales following the review of the Ibadan traditional chieftaincy law.
Sen. Ladoja challenged the in court. The High Court ruled in his favour but the state government has since launched an appeal.
