Elder Bola Aragbaye, husband of veteran Yoruba gospel singer, Evangelist Funmi Aragbaye, has died at the age of 77.
A statement signed by Felix Olasoji, on behalf of the family, said Elder Aragbaye passed on during a brief illness at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan at about 2:30 pm, on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.
The statement adds:
During his lifetime, he worked at the Nigerian Tribune as a journalist under the supervision of Alhaji Lateef Jakande, who later became an Executive Governor of Lagos state.
He left Nigerian Tribune in 1967 to join The Sketch Press Limited, where he rose to the position of editor before a former Governor of Ondo State, late Chief Adekunle Ajasin appointed him as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), in 1981.
The late Elder Aragbaye who marked his 77th birthday on November 10, 2018 will be remembered for his exemplary leadership and philanthropic gestures to all who came his way.
He is survived by his wife, a music icon and National President of Gospel Musicians’ Association of Nigeria (GOMAN), Evangelist Dr. Funmi Aragbaye, children, grandchildren and family members.
Burial arrangements will be announced later.
