Westlife have released their first single after eight years of separation. The single titled “Hello My Love”, was released on January 10, 2019. Their last album was released in 2011 before their separation.
The new song was written by Ed Sheeran and produced by Steve Mac. This is the first single to be released by the foursome, Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan after they reunited late last year.
The group rose to fame with their debut international self-titled studio album, Westlife (1999). Followed by Coast to Coast (2000), World of Our Own (2001), Unbreakable – The Greatest Hits Vol. 1 (2002) and Turnaround (2003) which continued the group’s success worldwide.
Westlife are an Irish pop vocal group, which was formed in 1998 in Dublin. They consisted of five teenagers when the group started before one of them, Brian McFadden left the band in 2004 before the start of their Turnaround Tour to pursue a solo career. He announced his departure from the group during a press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel in Dublin.
The four remaining members continued as a group to release their cover albums Allow Us to Be Frank (2004) and The Love Album (2006) and the studio albums Face to Face (2005) and Back Home (2007). After almost a one-year hiatus of studio recording in 2008, they regrouped and released the studio albums Where We Are (2009), and Gravity (2010) and the compilation album Greatest Hits (2011).
They split in 2012 after their last concert on June 23, 2012 at Croke Park Stadium in Dublin.
Three months after the split, Nicky Byrne revealed that members of the group fought with one another more and more often in the latter years leading up to the split and he felt that it was the right time to end their time together.
The quartet reunited late last year for their eight studio album.
Westlife have also announced their upcoming tour dates to celebrates 20 years of Westlife.
The tour will kick off in Belfast on May 25, with a run of live shows ending in Croke Park in July.
The shows will see the global pop kings perform brand new songs, alongside their greatest hits and all 14 of their UK No.1 hits including as ‘Swear It Again’, ‘Flying Without Wings’, ‘You Raise Me Up’ and ‘Unbreakable’.
