Protests rocked the Dugbe branches of Shoprite and StanbicIBTC Bank in Ibadan on Tuesday over the xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
Similar protests held in MTN offices and Shoprite outlets in Lagos. The companies affected are owned by South Africans.
An eye witness told Newspeakonline that about 50 protesters stormed Shoprite Dube around 5pm and protested peacefully against persistent attacks on foreigners including of Nigerians in South Africa.
The management of Odu’a Investments Limited which owns the mall housing Shoprite was said to have called the police immediately the protesters were sighted. The police responded quickly and took over the premises.
The youths also staged another protest at the nearby branch of StanbicIBTC Bank.
