3SC lost the NPFL promotion play-off to Akwa Starlets of Uyo 3-0 on Monday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

They said they regretted the fact that the team could not achieve its ultimate goal for the season, saying after two consecutive promotion play off defeats, it is time to step aside.
Balogun said having spent six years in charge of the club, it is time to leave and allow people that will reinvigorate the team to take over the management of its affairs.
Also, the captain of the club, Waheed Omololu on Tuesday apologised to the state government and the teeming supporters of the club for the inability of the team to secure promotion to the NPFL.
He said the players and the entire team were sad over the result because thay had believed the team will secure the promotion ticket going into the game, adding that the players gave their best but it was not good enough to secure the ticket.
Omololu enjoin the supporters not to relent in their support for the club, saying the team will go again when the new season starts.
