Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has reportedly sacked the Director-General of the Department of State Security (DSS), Lawal Daura.
Reports said the sack happened after a meeting between Osinbajo and heads of some security agencies following the stand off orchestrated by DSS operatives at the National Assembly this morning.
Opposition lawmakers accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being behind the seige which saw the lawmakers locked out of their offices. The clerk of the National Assembly and National Assembly staff was also refused entry to the Assembly complex.
Daura was asked to hand over to the most senior officer in the agency till further notice.
“Acting Yemi Osinbajo has directed the termination of the appointment of the DG of the DSS, Mr. Lawal Musa Daura,” said Laolu Akande, media aide to Osinbajo.
“Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.”
Sources said Daura was sacked because he ordered the DSS seige on the National Assembly without the knowledge of the presidency currently being headed by Prof Osinbajo.
