Sen. Iyiola Omisore, the Social Democratic Party(SDP) candidate in the September 2018 governorship election in Osun State has facilitated an alliance between the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) and Accord Party(AP) in the state, to enhance the chances of APC in Saturday’s House of Assembly elections.
The deal was sealed on Thursday, during a meeting Omisore had with the State chairman of Accord Party, Hon. Ayodele Fanibe, who was also the party’s House of Representative candidate for Ife Federal constituency in the February 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
At the meeting held in Ile-Ife, Omisore, together with the leadership of Accord Party, agreed to work for the success of APC in Saturday’s election.
Omisore, at the meeting described Fanibe as “an illustrious son of the soil” and a politician who must be in the camp of the progressives. He urged him to start seeing himself as part of the APC family.
In his response, Fanibe, who lauded the move for realignment of political forces, described it as “a very formidable rallying point which every progressive minded citizens of Ile-Ife must partner with to move our society forward.”
Newspeakonline recalls that Omisore entered into a coalition agreement with APC in the state, after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the September 22, 2018 governorship election in the state inconclusive, a move which later handed victory to the APC in the September 27, 2018 rerun election.
