Four years after he was stripped of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) title, Ibadan-based lawyer, Kunle Kalejaye, has been restored as a SAN.
The Supreme Court ruled in favour of his appeal this morning.
Kaleijaye was disbarred and stripped of his SAN title in 2015 after a Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) found him guilty of professional misconduct. He was said to be exchanging text messages with an election tribunal judge, Thomas Naron, without the knowledge of the other party, during the election litigation between former governors of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun and Rauf Aregbesola in 2008.
Aregbesola later won in the tribunal.
Friday’s judgement now restores Kaleijaye’s rights and privileges as a lawyer and SAN.
